Vernazza Italy is a beautiful village in the Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera.

Italy and, specifically, the Cinque Terre is a fantastic choice.

The two best villages to stay in on a Cinque Terre Vacation are Vernazza and Riomaggiore.

This village centers around the charming harbor square with outdoor restaurants, protected beach, ruined castle and Gothic stone church dating from 1318. Vineyards on the hills surround the town.

Main street, Via Roma, winding up to the train station, is lined with shops and cafes . There are interesting "alleys" to explore along the way.

World Wars Monument (those from village that died in both World Wars) is near the path which leads to Corniglia.

The beach is fairly small, but you can also deepwater swim on the other side of the breakwater where there is a ladder.

Kayaks can be rented at the harbor.

There is a boat that operates from Easter to October that connects all of the five villages.

Hiking Cinque Terre - The path that connects the five Cinque Terre villages is more difficult in both directions from Vernazza. For the easiest stretch, try Southernmost Riomaggiore to Manarola....continuing North it gets more difficult. Just hop the train when you get tired.

Princess of Vernaza

This is an enchanting typical tower house on top of Vernazza. It can be reached going up a lot of steps but the effort to reach it is well rewarded by the place. You will have breakfast included in rental rate and special rates if you choose to have lunch or dinner at the restaurant.

Vernazza Restaurants

Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre, specializing in Scililian food, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at the top of town by the post office. Ristorante Gianni Franzi has consistently good food for breakfast, lunch and dinner

For those on a romantic weekend break, check out Franco's Ristorante La Torre set on the trail to Corniglia. it has a great view.

A couple of good choices on the harbor square, with outdoor tables, are the Gambero Rosso....a bit more expensive and elegant or Pizzeria Vulnetia....try the antipasti or pizza.

End your meal with gelato from Gelateria Stalin in the middle of town.
